We all know that food is energy. And in order to get through our busy days (and workouts) we need to stay consistently fueled & energized. This means eating adequately in order to sustain our blood sugar levels. Eating nourishing foods frequently allows us to show up as our best selves and operate at our highest levels. It can be hard to focus when your stomach is rumbling or when you’re too busy day dreaming about lunch. The term “hangry” is actually scientific – it’s literally when blood sugar levels drop and we get tired, irritated, unable to focus, etc. This is why convenient, nourishing snacks are something we never leave the house without!

A snack we love to have on hand are Koia Drinks. They’re delicious, refreshing, filling and help us stay sustained and energized in between meals. Here’s how having them with us on-the-go has contributed to us showing up as our best selves:

1. Mindful Eating.

Ever ‘save’ your appetite up for a specific meal only to find yourself totally ravenous when that meal finally rolls around? Going into a meal too hungry can seriously backfire. It’s much more likely that we’ll make poor food choices (that don’t honor our body) because our stomachs can’t keep up with our brains!

A very active lifestyle definitely comes with the territory of a workout based blog. So you could definitely say we’re familiar with fueling our bodies for a sweat. It’s never comfortable to begin a workout too full OR too hungry (for those of you who can workout on an empty stomach, kudos to you – but we personally need to have something in our stomachs an hour or so before exercising).

We don’t know about you, but we want to genuinely enjoy our snacks – it adds a little joy to our busy day to day. Having raw almonds sounds good in theory, but when we’re actually craving a snack, we generally don’t gravitate towards things of that nature.
