Class + Studio: Power Pilates @ Sweat and Tonic
Location: Toronto
Length: 60 mins.
Description: Full body, mat pilates class with a heavy emphasis on core. You’ll use various props throughout (pilates ring, resistance ball and bands, gliders) on the mat. A big focus on stabilization and coordination, with high reps.
Sweat Level: 5/10 – Not a sweaty class. It may start out a little warm due to hot pilates being in the same room, but it cools down pretty quickly.
Tone Level: 7/10 – Very toning for the core and abs. We were sore the next day!
Cult Level: 5/10 – A solid mix – packed with tons of regulars, but minimal cult vibes given off from them.
Sneakers/Props: Barefoot. The studio has everything you need for class (mat, props, towels) and it’s all set up for you, so you don’t need to bring anything or worry about grabbing a spot early, because you’ll reserve it in advance.
Shower/Locker Situation: Incredible! More than you could ever need. 3 floors of lockers and the women’s changing room (located downstairs) is fully stocked with products + amenities. And an infrared sauna, too!
Vibe: This place is ALL about the vibes. A gym of the future: beautiful and zen, with coworking space, a fuel bar and more. We definitely picked up ‘gym’ vibes (as it is indeed a gym and quite large) but to the next level. We love how organized the studio itself was, as everything is laid out prior & there’s lots of space between you and your neighbor. Everything was super pristine and clean.
Similar to: Studio-wise wise – Equinox. Class-wise – Melissa Wood Health.
Extras: Not on ClassPass. However, you can workout at Sweat & Tonic without a membership. They also have a great first time deal: 3 classes for $45.
Go Back? Yes – but we’d want to try a different class. We’d prefer to go to a smaller scale, more boutique studio for a Pilates-focused class.
