Class + Studio: Plank Pilates @ Plank Fitness Studio
Location: Lower East Side (NYC)
Length: 55 mins
Description: Semi-private classic pilates on the “tower” which is essentially a simplified cadillac. You’ll use props while on the machine to strengthen + lengthen all body parts. Lots of core stabilization.
Sweat Level: 1/10 – Didn’t sweat one bit!
Tone Level: 5/10 – Not an “extreme” toning pilates where you burn out or get the shakes. More focused on lengthening the muscles and stabilization with light pulsing.
Cult Level: 4/10 – Classes are kept very small, and we didn’t feel any culty vibes. Very welcoming studio, with extremely nice staff.
Sneakers/Props: Barefoot! (Pro tip: they provide water in a mason jar with sliced cucumber and lemon, yum! So take advantage).
Shower/Locker Situation: No showers, there are 2 changing rooms, refresh stations & eucalyptus lavender towels for post-class.
Vibe: Boho-spa vibes. Basic studio up top and peaceful and relaxing waiting area/changing rooms downstairs.
Similar to: Ave A Pilates, Uptown Pilates, Pilates by Sylvia, Pilates on the Square
Extras: Not on CP. Good for all levels. Classes are $40, but they’re semi-private (no more than 5 people). They also offer cardio + TRX classes! Instructors are very knowledgeable.
Go Back? Definitely! Would be curious to try their other classes too! Highly recommend for tower/classical pilates.
