Class + Studio: Cyc45 @ Cyc Fitness
Location: NYC (Chelsea, Lolita, UES, Hell’s Kitchen), Wisconsin, Massachusetts
Length: 45 mins
Description: This class has a very similar format to Soulcycle. Most of the time is spent riding to the beat of the music (with choreography like “tapping it back” … wonder where they heard that, lol) a short arm intermission, followed by a few final songs you’ll ride to.
Sweat Level: 7.5/10 – Slightly lower than your average spin class, but mostly because they don’t alter the room temp.
Tone Level: 5/10 – Mainly a cardio workout, but we’re big fans of their arm portion! We love that they use sandbag weights instead of regular weights. You will absolutely feel this one in your arms and quads!
Cult Level: 2/10 – Have never seen or felt like there was a cult following here.
Sneakers/Props: Cycling shoes are free to rent (rare, but we love it!) You can also bring your own. Water for purchase.
Shower/Locker Situation: This depends on the studio … this studio is generally within a gym that has showers/lockers/etc.
Vibe: Good vibes, very enthusiastic instructors (maybe a little cheesy, but it’s all good!)
Similar to: SoulCycle, Cycle House, Swerve
Extras: On ClassPass. Their class packages are also pretty inexpensive for NYC ($22 a la carte classes). Great for those who are intimidated by the Soul Cycle crowd, but still want to spin to good beats and have fun!
Go Back? We went during the early days of ClassPass, but haven’t been back in a long time!
