Class + Studio: Core Cult (Cardio) @ New York Pilates
Location: NYC (SoHo, Bowery, West Village), Hamptons (Montauk, Southampton)
Length: 50 mins.
Description: Classic pilates reformer class with low-impact cardio. Combines aerobic and toning exercises using a jump board – which, if you aren’t familiar, is a plank-like piece of equipment attached to the end of the reformer – and when you use your legs to push off of it it seriously works your core and glutes.
Sweat Level: 4.5/10 – Offers more cardio than any other NYP class, but it’s still a fairly low sweat factor (hair washing won’t be necessary).
Tone Level: 6/10 – Tone level is dependent on the instructor, but we’ve found this class to be generally tougher than Arms, Abs & Ass, yet not quite as toning as Burnout.
Cult Level: 7/10 – Definitely not the best studio to make friends, but that never deters us. Tons of NYP membership regulars here, as it’s pricey on ClassPass (sometimes 25+ creds for a class).
Sneakers/Props: Barefoot or grip socks. We often bring a sweatshirt for the warmup as it’s kept pretty cool here.
Shower/Locker Situation: No showers, no lockers – just cubbies.
Vibe: Aesthetically, one of the best pilates studio vibes we’ve come across.

Extras: On CP. Very instructor dependent studio.
Go Back? Yes – probably our most frequented Pilates studios!
