Class + Studio: Cardio Jump N Tone @ Pilates by Sylvia
Location: Koreatown (NYC), Bryant Park (NYC)
Other Cities: N/A
Length: 55 mins.
Description: This class is more fast-paced and higher intensity than your average reformer workout. Most of class is spent using the jumpboard (which you spring off with), with various props incorporated like a ball & resistance band. The workout focuses a lot on form, alignment + stability while constantly in motion (coordination is very key here).
Sweat Level: 3/10 – While you will work up more of a sweat than regular pilates, it’s really not much. Don’t need a hair wash!
Tone Level: 5/10 – Definitely about building alignment and lean lines, but doesn’t feel strenuous at all. Our glutes were sore the next day! Most toning in thighs and glutes (due to the jumpboard).
Cult Level: 6/10 – Definitely a bunch of “Pilates by Sylvia Only” vibes, since she’s not on CP, not as many first timers.
Sneakers/Props: Must wear grip socks.
Shower/Locker Situation: Coat hooks & cubbies. No frills, but Bryant Park’s loc has a single shower.
Vibe: Minimalist vibes – they have only what you need. Private sessions going on, not very crowded.
