Class + Studio: Pop Physique
Location: Nomad (NYC) + Bowery (NYC)
Other Cities: San Marino (CA), Silverlake (CA)
Length: 60 mins.
Description: Ballet style barre-based class, focusing on isometric, low impact moves on + off the mat and barre. Equipment such as light weights, bands, and ball are used. Class begins with a warmup (full body movements) + arm & core exercises and is followed by a long thigh and glute series, ending with core and a stretch (with stretching segments throughout class, too!)
Sweat Level: 3/10 – Like most barre classes, sweat level here is low.
Tone Level: 7/10 – Very dependent on your teacher and weight level, but there is potential for a solid tone!
Cult Level: 2/10 – Very low cult level. New faces each time.
Sneakers/Props: Barre socks required!
Shower/Locker Situation: No showers, there are digi locks and changing rooms.
Vibe: Very cute studio aesthetic (clean, new equipment and cool + girly decor). Instructors are nice, but we wouldn’t say they’re next level … they don’t really try to get to know you here (like they would at Flybarre or Physique 57).
Similar to: Barre Belle (Toronto), ‘Signature’ at Physique 57, Pure Barre, The Bar Method, ‘Barre’ at Exhale.
Extras: On ClassPass (generally #10andUnder). Over the year, they’ve closed quite a few locations down. Many first time deals/specials ($25 first class, $150 first month unlimited) and often found on discount sites like Gilt.
Go Back? We haven’t gone in years. If there was a specific instructor that came highly recommended, we’d go. Otherwise, probably not high on our list.
